Series: Chronicle

Writer: P E Leody

SYNOPIS

PAGE 1

Jo a young girl has escaped from her contained living environment into the real world. She emerges through a one way door. She gasps at the sight that unfolds in front of her eyes

JO: ALOYISUS MCMANUS!

As far as she can see the land is filled with similar environments to the one she has just left. Between these structure are honking large rivets attached to a floor, in all a dimpled metal sphere

JO: THE TEACHERS TOLD US THEY HAD ALL THE ANSWERS. IT SEEMS I DIDN'T ASK THE RIGHT QUESTIONS

Jo wanders past her environment in no particular direction. It dwarfs her.

JO: EVEN IF I WANTED TO RETURN THAT DOOR'S TOO HIGH UP AND HAS A NASTY ONE WAY REVOLVING ACTION

The environments are covered in a moss, jo picks some and chews on it whilst walking

JO: I MAY BE STUCK FOR DIRECTIONS BUT THIS LICHEN IS VAGUELY EDIBLE

Jo clasps her hands to her head in terror, a shadow looks like a gun pointing at her

JO: WHAT HAVE I DONE, HOME WAS WARM, SAFE AND INTERESTING. OUT HERE THERES IMPREGNABLE FORTRESS, MOSS BANQUETS AND THE ONLY OTHER PERSON AROUND IS ARMED

PAGE 2

This whole page is split by the arc light that links into the final frame

Jo turns to face her assailant Herman

JO: SORRY, BIT OF A CHLOROPHYLL INDUCED RANT, DON'T YOU HAVE SOME THREATENING TO DO?

Herman looks shocked

HERMAN: ME NO, THIS IS A DIVINER I MADE FROM MY RUCKSACK, IT WILL DETECT ABNORMALITIES, OR IT WOULD DO IF I COULD FORGE ANOTHER ONE

Jo's removes her hair bow

JO: HERE USE THIS I'LL WEAVE MYSELF A WOGGLE

HERMAN: THANKS, LOOSE METAL IS SO SCARCE

Fully equipped, Herman starts divining

HERMAN: THANKS, I WAS BORN HERMAN

JO: YOU HERMAN, ME JO.

Herman's rods are twitching

HERMAN: WHAT EVER IT IS THERE'S A GREAT DISRUPTION IN THIS DIRECTION

Jo watches giggling

JO: SO DO WE FOLLOW IT OR RUN FROM IT?

The two trek past many environments as the night closes in

HERMAN: HAVE YOU BEEN OUTSIDE DURING NIGHT BEFORE?

JO: NO

HERMAN: ITS BEST WE FIND SOME COVER BEFORE THE FIREWORKS START

Jo and Herman shelter behind a large rivet. All the environments are charging up by huge arcs with their neighbours

JO: WHAT ARE THEY DOING

HERMAN: LINE OF SIGHT POWER TRANSFER, AND AS A BYPRODUCT PRODUCING THE OXYGEN WE ARE BREATHING

PAGE 3

The 2 have reached a massive fissure in the metal crust of the sphere it is filled with water flowing a long way down

HERMAN: WE'RE GOING TO HAVE TO WALK AROUND IT

Jo and Herman so some local diving

HERMAN: ITS NOT A RIVER IT’S SOME MINERAL TRANSPORT SYSTEM, MUST RUN UNDER THE LIVING ENVIRONMENTS

JO: LOOKS BROKEN

HERMAN: YES PERHAPS IT'S MEANT TO BE COVERED

A few small shots of the pair on a long trek

JO: THIS METAL IS CORRODED IN PLACES

HERMAN: ITS SEEMS TO BE DECAYING THE NEARER WE GET TO OUR TARGET

A massive mountain pokes out of the surface

HERMAN: THE METAL STRESSES SUGGESTS THE ROCK POKED ITSELF THOROUGH THE LAYER

JO: THE TEACHERS SAID NATURE'S A FORCE THAT CAN'T BE STOPPED.

A few small shots of the pair on a long trek

JO: THERE'S DEFINITELY A BREAKDOWN GOING ON HERE

The pair wander through a few scattered trees

HERMAN: WE'RE GETTING CLOSE TO THE ABNORMALITY

JO: PERHAPS IT'S KICKING UP THESE NON METALLIC OBJECTS

The two stop on the edge of a huge cliff

HERMAN: BINGO

JO: WOW

A reveal shot from the cliff showing a huge ribbed dome a long way away

PAGE 4

The pair have fashioned kite like gliders out of their clothes the have launched them selves off the cliff

JO: DONT FLAP YOUR ARMS JUST KEEP THEM WELL EXTENDED AND TRY TO STAY FLAT

HERMAN: WHERE DO YOU LEARN THIS?

JO: SCHOOL TRIP TO THE NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM

The 2 land at the base of dome

HERMAN: STUNNING

JO: THERE'S NO GOING BACK NOW

The 2 walk around the huge dome

JO: MUST BE A MILE AROUND

HERMAN: AND THE DIVINERS JUST POINT TO IT'S CENTRE

Herman bangs on the surface

HERMAN: COMPLETELY SOLID AND IMPOSSIBLE TO CLIMB. WE DON'T REALLY WANT TO BE HERE NEAR A MASSIVE CONDUCTOR TONIGHT

Jo finds a door

JO: RATHER CONVENIENTLY THERE'S A DOOR HERE

HERMAN: WHO COULD POSSIBLY BE IT FOR?

The two ascend a massive central structure that is truly awesome

JO: THESE STAIRS APPEAR TO LEAD SOMEWHERE

HERMAN: WHY ELSE BUILD THEM?

The pair reach a small central platform with a central dias

JO: HERMAN LOOK WHAT IT SAYS HERE

HERMAN: WELL, WE MAY AS WELL

On the dias is a big button with press on it jo does it

PAGE 5

A huge arc of power surges across the planet hitting every single environment

The environments lower in to the ground until the planets surface is smooth

There is a huge crack as the metal sphere cracks, the platform that the pair were standing on is thrown clear

The explosion clears and a brand new shiny earth is orbiting in the place of the metal planet

Jo and Herman can see the new arrival from their orbiting platform.

HERMAN: WELL YOU WANTED TO SEE THE WORLD

JO: WELL THAT DID IT
